(CNN Spanish) — Roy Rosselló, a former member of the Menudo group and who is currently 51 years old, says in the advance of a docuseries that will be broadcast next month in the United States through Peacock, that the father of the Menéndez brothers sexually abused him.
Rosselló claims that José Menéndez, murdered in August 1989 along with his wife by their sons Lyle and Erik Menéndez, sexually abused him when he was a teenager. The alleged aggression is revealed in the preview of a documentary called “Menéndez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed” from the Peacock platform that premieres on May 2. CNN is trying to get a reaction from Roy Rosselló.
“This is the man who raped me,” says Roselló on the program, pointing to a photo of José Menéndez. “That’s the pedophile,” he says, adding that at that age he was 14, and that José Menéndez, who was a successful businessman, also drugged him.
Lyle Menendez, 55, and Erik Menendez, 50, have been jailed since July 1996, after a highly publicized trial. Both are serving life in prison in the same California jail without the possibility of parole.
In the sensational televised trial, the brothers, then teenagers, claimed they shot their parents, José and Mary Louise Menéndez, who lived in Beverly Hills, California, with guns after years of sexual abuse by their father, and that their mother turned a blind eye. However, prosecutors argued that the two brothers simply wanted to keep their parents’ fortune.
