The long-awaited update of the system of the point of sale terminals (TPV) of the Mexican Postal Service (Sepomex) will have to wait. On Friday, April 28, the bidding process that was underway was declared void as there were not enough resources to pay the 75,400 dollars that Green Bonds Advisory’s offer represented, which met all the process requirements.
A day before, Sepomex received three proposals, one for a smaller amount (JF Technology, $64,380) and a larger one (TEIA Consultoría en Sistemas, $92,684).
Given this decision, the decentralized body of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) has the alternative of directly awarding the services it requires for this year, from May 1 to October 31.
According to Sepomex, it is necessary to carry out a comprehensive update of the point of sale terminal system so that the operation of the offices is not affected in the short term.
“Derived from the obsolescence of the system that is currently used and derived from the mechanics of transformation and modernization of Sepomex, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the General Directorate of the Agency, it is essential to develop the system to manage all sales operations of their products and services within the post offices”, it was explained.
Based on information from the SICT, the current system is in operation in 692 post offices, with a total of 1,800 terminals (603 offices have a single computer, where the system is operating, while the rest of the Offices can have between three and a maximum of seven desktop computers.
The benefits of contracting were mentioned: improving the quality of the services provided and having a solution that covers the entire sales operating model of the organization in accordance with its characteristics, which will be automatically integrated with the current systems in operation, which will increase Sepomex’s competitiveness in the competitive business environment it faces.
