Warriors veteran forward Draymond Green shared a two-word reaction to reports of the likely departure of Bob Myers – Golden State’s president of basketball operations and General Manager.
The Warriors were eliminated from the playoffs on May 12, when the NBA’s reigning champions lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Now, the franchise heads into an offseason filled with uncertainties, with Green’s future being one of them, as the 33-year-old has a $27.6million player option and could hit free agency in July, while Klay Thompson has one year and $43.2M left on his deal.
Over the last few months, fears in the Bay Area concerning the possibility that Myers could be parts ways with the organization this offseason have been growing, as both parties seem to be at a a stand off over contract negotiations.
‘That sucks,’ Green wrote under an Instagram post concerning the update on Myers’ future from The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

The 48-year-old basketball executive and Golden State have had ‘no substantial contract extension talks in months’ and the Dubs are preparing ‘for the likelihood that Myers could walk away from the franchise,’ per Charania’s report.
Over the last 11 years, Myers has served as a central cog to the Warriors era that’s been dominating the league since the mid-2010s. Golden State’s won four and has appeared in six total NBA Finals since winning its first NBA championship of the 21st century in 2015.
‘Our organization has a lot to sort through this summer,’ head coach Steve Kerr, who’s set to enter the final year of his deal, said on Tuesday.

‘My contract situation is not, nor should it be, at the top of the list. Right now Bob’s contract situation is No. 1 because that influences a lot of the player decisions that have to be made, contracts, draft, free agency. We will get to my stuff whenever that happens and I’m in no rush for that.’
Mike Dunleavy Jr. – vice president of basketball operations for the Warriors – flew into Chicago this week to represent the club at the NBA Draft Lottery, instead of Myers.
He’s seen as the natural successor to the four-time champion and executive, should the California-native call it quits.
Myers served as Golden State’s assistant general manager when he joined the team in April 2011 before his promotion to GM exactly a year later.
He’s been poached for lucrative roles with private equity firms and executive roles in other pro sports leagues, per The Athletic. Myers could also end up taking some sort of media job if his contract expires this summer.
