Taylor Lautner, “Twilight” actor, responds to criticism about his appearance

(CNN) — Taylor Lautner has something to say to those who think she “hasn’t aged well.”

The “Twilight” actor posted a video Monday responding to criticism.

Lautner explained that he and his wife, Taylor Dome Lautner, had previously made an appearance in New York that was recently shared on social media.

“Just got back from running. I was feeling really good about myself, trying to stay healthy both physically and mentally,” Lautner said in his video. “I felt compelled to share something with you, because when I got back from running I went on Instagram.”

He then shared some of the comments criticizing his appearance, including someone who wrote, “He looks so old, what’s wrong with him.”

“If this had been 10 years ago, five years ago, maybe even two, three years ago, that would have really affected me,” Lautner said. “It would have made me want to go into a hole and not come out.”

He also offered a life lesson: “You find value where you put it.”

“And if you put your value in what others think of you, that’s how you’re going to feel,” he said. “But if you put your value in knowing who you are, what’s important to you, what you love, those kinds of things won’t affect you.”

For the record, Lautner is 31 years old.
