While they may not have the visibility or global reach of the NBA, premier players in the National Football League are having greater influence.
Playing with a helmet on makes it difficult for each and every player to maximize their branding, but there are those who get great cut-through due to their superior levels of play and charisma.
No one has exemplified this more than Odell Beckham Jr., who despite not being the player he once was while on the New York Giants, has led the way for players to be ultra expressive on social media.
Earlier this month, BookMakers looked at all 32 franchises to assess which player is the most popular per team.
Here, Mail Sport breaks down from 1-32, showcasing where each representative ranks among the league.
1. Odell Beckham Jr. — Baltimore Ravens (17.21m followers)
Unsurprisingly, Odell Beckham Jr. tops the list. Long before signing with the Ravens on a one-year, $15million deal, he has been an influencer.
Beckham sprung to national prominence after making one of the greatest catches in the history against the Dallas Cowboys in 2014 while a member of the New York Giants.
The 30-year-old moved on from Big Blue via trade to Cleveland before arriving at the LA Rams during their 2021 Super Bowl run, and eventual win over Cincinnati.
He has more than 17 million followers and shares photos of his family, including heartwarming posts with son Zydn, as well as how he enjoys his time away from the field.
Odell Beckham Jr. has long been the most popular National Football League player on socials
2. Patrick Mahomes — Kansas City Chiefs (5.63m followers)
The reigning Super Bowl champion is unsurprisingly the Chiefs’ most popular social media star.
Arguably, the face of the league Mahomes continues to thrill fans on a weekly basis alongside his star tight end Travis Kelce and head coach Andy Reid.
Mahomes’ time in the spotlight shows no signs of slowing down soon despite an expected cannibalistic AFC this season.
He does have a significantly lower following than Beckham Jr. with over five million on Instagram, meaning the Ravens man blows the entire league out of the water.

3. Russell Wilson — Denver Broncos (5.52m followers)
Despite the worst season of his career, Russell Wilson continues to attract attention from admirers and critics in equal measure. He is the third biggest influencer in the NFL.
Known for his, at times, awkward persona in front of the camera Wilson has starred in Subway commercials which engendered ridicule on social media.
The one-time Super Bowl champion has an opportunity to regroup under new Broncos head coach Sean Payton.
While famous in his own right, Broncos QB Russell Wilson is married to singer/model, Ciara
4. Joe Burrow — Cincinnati Bengals (3.85m followers)
The Bengals quarterback has caught the imagination of NFL fans for his stellar play — particularly in the two most recent seasons.
In his sophomore year, Burrow led Cincinnati to the Super Bowl before it fell behind late vs. the Rams. The AFC North franchise came close to another Super Bowl, narrowly losing to the Chiefs in the 2022 AFC Championship Game.
Burrow has also become something of an icon to younger NFL fans with his dress sense and swagger, earning the nicknames ‘Joe Cool’ and ‘Joe Sheisty’, among others.
Joe Burrow’s pre AFC Championship Game fit in 2021 became pop culture legend at the time
5. Juju Smith-Schuster — New England Patriots (3.45m followers)
The receiver known for his skills on the gridiron and TikTok is unsurprisingly toward the apex of this list.
Smith-Schuster garnered a large following while exceling during his first two seasons in Pittsburgh.
The 26-year-old won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs and has now landed in New England, signing a three-year, $33m contract in free agency.

6. Saquon Barkley — New York Giants (2.55m followers)
Big Blue’s face-of-the-franchise running back may be in a contract standoff with the team, but his popularity is still high.
Barkley is one of the most electric and talented receivers in the National Football League, as evidenced last season.
The former Penn State standout, who has over two million Instagram followers, was an integral part of the Giants’ surprise run to the NFC Divisional Round.

7. Dak Prescott — Dallas Cowboys (2.25m followers)
There are advantages to being the quarterback for America’s Team. Despite limited postseason success, Prescott still remains largely popular and well-liked.
There are some who believe given his status as the Cowboys quarterback, he is spoken of too regularly and in a bracket beyond his present.
With the Cowboys once more favored to challenge in the NFC again this upcoming season, Prescott, who is the seventh biggest influencer, won’t be going anywhere.
Dak Prescott has naturally became a national face since becoming the Dallas Cowboys QB
8. Aaron Rodgers — New York Jets (2.15m followers)
The hype around both Aaron Rodgers and the Jets franchise has been palpable since the trade between Green Bay and Gang Green.
Rodgers has been ostensibly been enjoying the change in scenery from Wisconsin to New York/New Jersey, attending two Taylor Swift concerts and both Knicks and Rangers playoff games at Madison Square Garden.
The 39-year-old’s social media popularity may not climb too much beyond its current status, but his standing in the game will exponentially increase should success come with the Jets.
He sent social media into a frenzy last summer when he arrived at Packers’ training camp dressed as Nicolas Cage’s character in Con Air.

9. Von Miller — Buffalo Bills (2.09m followers)
The Vonster has been one of the greatest pass rushers of the modern era and helped will two NFL franchises to Super Bowls in 2016 and 2021, respectively.
Miller signed with the Bills following the Rams’ Super Bowl win but had his promising season ended after suffering a torn ACL on Thanksgiving.
Ahead of the 2023 season, Miller has not yet ruled himself out of Week 1 at the Jets. What is certain though, is he remains a chance to be the first player to win three Super Bowl titles on three franchises.
Two-time Super Bowl champion Von Miller has been one of the league’s faces the last decade
10. Tyreek Hill — Miami Dolphins (2.02m followers)
The league’s speediest receiver is unsurprisingly leading all Dolphins when it to followers.
Hill has been a revelation for some years now and will look to continue in such vein during his second season in Miami.
He is a one-time Super Bowl champion, which he achieved in 2020 while on the Kansas City Chiefs.

11. DK Metcalf — Seattle Seahawks (1.88m followers)
Seattle’s talented wideout became the franchise’s foremost star when Russell Wilson was traded to Denver last offseason.
Since, the Seahawks have had a resurgence and came within eight points of progressing to the NFC Divisional Round.
Metcalf thrills the Pacific Northwest on the gridiron but has a tendency to do it off the field too with his colorful hairstyles and fits.
DK Metcalf, Seattle’s star wide receiver, is wildly popular for his athleticism and fashion sense
12. Christian McCaffrey — San Francisco 49ers (1.84m followers)
McCaffrey, who has just under two million Instagram followers, found freedom in the run game after a midseason move from Carolina to Santa Clara.
The 26-year-old is one of the most exciting players in the National Football League when healthy.
The former Stanford superstar’s issue has been that full health has been a fleeting reality for CMC.
San Francisco running back Christian McCaffrey has long been a popular figure in the NFL
13. Derrick Henry — Tennessee Titans (1.68m followers)
The Tennessee superstar is famed for his dreadlocks, bruising running style and of course, stiff-arms.
Henry was rumored to be on the trade block this offseason but nothing ever materialized.
Given the uncertainty at the quarterback position, Henry will once again be the main man on the Titans offense.

15. Baker Mayfield — Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1.56m followers)
The former Heisman Trophy winner captured immense popularity during his time as the quarterback of Oklahoma.
Mayfield subsequently went No. 1 overall to the Browns in 2018 before moving to Carolina after four seasons.
The 28-year-old failed to succeed in Charlotte and made a brief stop at the Rams later in 2022. Now, he is in a battle to be the starting quarterback town in Tampa.

17. Jimmy Garoppolo — Las Vegas Raiders (1.47m followers)
The baby-faced quarterback has a resume most quarterbacks would dream of, perhaps the smile too.
Garoppolo has had his on-field issues however, often plagued by injuries throughout his career.
The former San Francisco signal-caller may not play with the Raiders if he is unable to pass a physical — which he has previously failed, according to reports.
It may comes as a surprise that he’s down in 17th in these rankings.
Former New England and San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo keeps a low profile
18. Jalen Hurts — Philadelphia Eagles (1.43m followers)
The star quarterback received a huge payday this offseason for his efforts leading Philadelphia to the Super Bowl.
Hurts started with the Eagles as their third-string signal-caller after being taken in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Despite several free agent departures, Hurts and Co. look primed to vie for the Lombardi once more.

19. Deshaun Watson — Cleveland Browns (1.42m followers)
The polarizing Browns quarterback wasn’t at his best upon returning from NFL suspension in Week 13 of last season.
Watson was suspended from the league in relation to sexual misconduct allegations against him.
It remains to be seen if the former Texans quarterback will play like he did in Houston for Cleveland in the future.

20. Kyler Murray — Arizona Cardinals (1.35m followers)
The diminutive Cardinals quarterback has struggled in recent years, despite receiving a five-year, $230.5m contract from the team last summer.
It famously – albeit initially – included a homework clause, ostensibly intimating Murray wasn’t a proficient studier.
Murray tore his ACL in Week 14 of Arizona’s dismal season, finishing with 17 total touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He completes the top 20.

21. Aaron Donald — Los Angeles Rams (1.28m followers)
The dominant Aaron Donald couldn’t retain his freakish form from previous seasons as LA suffered a Super Bowl hangover last season.
While Donald may have few years left in the league, he will go down as one of the greatest defenders players to ever walk the earth.
The former Pitt star has a Super Bowl and 3x Defensive Player of the Year titles to his name, among a string of other accolades.

22. Justin Fields — Chicago Bears (1.09m followers)
The speedy quarterback has more than one million Instagram followers and thrilled NFL fans with his incredible elusiveness and athletic prowess last season notwithstanding a poor Bears roster.
Chicago invested heavily in free agency, acquiring both weapons for Fields and its defense.
Although too early to tell, optimism has returned to Soldier Field with the ex-Ohio State QB under center.
Chicago quarterback Justin Fields is expected by some to make a big leap in his third season
23. T.J. Watt — Pittsburgh Steelers (1.03m followers)
The 28-year-old sackmaster is one of the premier players in the National Football League.
Watt, much like his brother J.J., is a quarterback’s worst nightmare. He struggled to overcome injuries last season but still registered 5.5 sacks in 10 games.
The previous year he recorded an NFL-record 22.5 sacks through 15 games.

24. Trevor Lawrence — Jacksonville Jaguars (1.01m followers)
The prodigious signal-caller almost led the Jaguars to the Championship Game, though the AFC South franchise came up just short in Arrowhead in January.
Lawrence was taken No. 1 overall by Jacksonville in the 2021 NFL Draft and widely thought to be the best quarterback in any class since John Elway and Andrew Luck.
After inconsistent play under Urban Meyer, Lawrence is on a trajectory where those comparisons have a chance of occurring at the pro level too.
The former No. 1 overall pick has much to look forward to this season with the Jaguars
25. Chase Young — Washington Commanders (837k followers)
Chase Young entered the league amid considerable hype after a standout collegiate career with Ohio State.
The Maryland native was a hot prospect coming out of The Shoe and was taken No. 2 overall by the Commanders in the 2020 Draft.
Chase starred in his first season, winning Defensive Rookie of the Year, but has dogged by injuries since. He played nine games in 2021, and three in 2022 due to an ACL tear and patella tendon rupture in November the previous year.

26. Justin Herbert — Los Angeles Chargers (615.8k followers)
One of the most promising quarterbacks in the game, Justin Herbert and the Chargers are yet to put it all together.
While one of the most notable players in the league, given the small market from which they originate, and its popularity in LA, it’s no surprise to see Herbert positioned here.
The Oregon alum is in an unenviable division; the AFC West, alongside Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson and Jimmy Garoppolo.
Justin Herbert has been a star for the Los Angeles Chargers for most of his three-year career
27. Gardner Minshew II — Indianapolis Colts (544.5k followers)
Minshew Mania may have quietened since his exit from Jacksonville but he is still a cult figure in the league.
After two years with the Jags, Minshew served as a backup to Jalen Hurts through 2021 and 2022.
This offseason he signed with the Indianapolis Colts and is presently in a quarterback battle with No. 4 overall pick, Anthony Richardson.
Gardner Minshew has been thrilling NFL fans with his play, eccentric lifestyle and appearance
28. Adam Thielen — Carolina Panthers (495k followers)
The former Vikings receiver may be in the twilight years of his career, but he is still one of the most recognizable names on the Panthers roster.
Thielen – a former DII athlete – made two Pro Bowls as a Minnesota player and had two 1,000-yard seasons in his nine years with the team.
This offseason, the 32-year-old, who has under 500,000 Instagram followers, signed a three-year contract with the Panthers.

29. CJ Stroud — Houston Texans (353k followers)
It is unsurprising to see the Texans’ Great White Hope being its most popular player on Instagram.
Stroud was taken with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 Draft despite rumors the Texans were going to draft a non-quarterback.
After a strong finish to the season at Ohio State, Houston fans will be hoping Stroud adapts quickly to the pros. He’s only posted 33 Instagram posts, so his stock can only rise.
The Houston Texans have entrusted the future of the franchise to No. 2 overall pick CJ Stroud
30. Jared Goff — Detroit Lions (340k followers)
The former Rams quarterback experienced a revival year with the resurgent Detroit Lions.
Now, with the weapons added in free agency and the Draft, both Goff and the Lions look ready for playoff football.
After he was discarded from the Rams, Goff seems to have found a home where his strengths can be maximized.

31. Cordarrelle Patterson — Atlanta Falcons (290k followers)
The electric Cordarrelle Patterson has developed into a huge backfield weapon in recent seasons after starting his career mostly as a returner.
Patterson is a seven-time All-Pro and is certainly worth consideration for the Pro Football Hall of Fame given his returning exploits.
He has more return touchdowns than anyone in NFL history (9) and is the first player to have a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown, a 75-yard TD catch and 50-yard rushing TD in a season.
Cordarrelle Patterson is one of the greatest returners – if not the best – in the history of the NFL
32. Jordan Love — Green Bay Packers (209k followers)
Last but not least we have the man who is following in the footsteps of two NFL legends.
Jordan Love has now succeeded Aaron Rodgers – who took over from Brett Favre – at Green Bay and is the next to carry the torch for one of the league’s most storied franchises.
Love looked promising when he briefly took to the field vs. Philadelphia late in the season but he will need a lot of help to be an immediate success with the Pack.
Will his influence improve now he’s the Packers main man?
Jordan Love has the odds stacked against him to match the feats of Rodgers and Brett Favre
