(CNN) — Harry Styles was struck in the eye by a thrown object while performing in Vienna on Saturday, marking the latest in a growing list of similar incidents in recent weeks.
And video posted on social media by concertgoers shows the “As It Was” singer walking across the stage while being hit square in the eye by an object during the “Love on Tour” concert.
He is seen wincing in pain as the object hits him, and crouching down with his hands to his head to compose himself before continuing to walk forward.
Styles has not yet informed his followers on his social networks, but CNN has contacted a representative for the singer for comment on the incident.
The unfortunate incident isn’t the first time Styles has been targeted by a flying object while performing on stage. In 2022, videos posted on social media showed how Styles was hit by some Skittles that was thrown at him during a concert in Los Angeles.
The incident prompted Skittles’ official Twitter account to post a message to his supporters in which he said: “We didn’t think this needed to be said: Please don’t cast Skittles.”
Styles thus joins, once again, the list of artists who have recently been hit by objects while performing on stage: Drake, Bebe Rexha, Kelsea Ballerini and Ava Max, as can be seen in several videos posted on social networks. .
Rexha and Drake were struck by cell phones while performing, and Rexha suffered a serious eye injury.
Ballerini was hit in the face in June when a bracelet was thrown at her while performing, forcing her to stop the song and leave the stage, and Max was hit in the face by a concertgoer who stormed onto the stage before being apprehended. for security.
The escalating incidents sparked protests from other artists, including Adele, who earlier this month called on her Las Vegas crowd to “stop throwing things at the artist!”
