Alabama boat brawl: New footage shows black man smack white boater with a CHAIR during fight between Harriot II Riverboat crew and white pleasure craft owners in Montgomery

New footage captured the moment a black man smacked a white boater with a chair during a brawl in Alabama between black staff from a cruise and white pleasure craft owners.

The brawl at Montgomery’s Riverfront Park has gone viral, with social media sharing images from different angles of the violent altercation on Saturday.

The newly emerged angle taken from inside the cruise shows an unidentified black man repeatedly hitting a white man with a chair. 

Despite the shocking violence, the Montgomery Police Department told DailyMail.com they have not made any arrests and are not releasing names as of Monday.

‘There are 4 active warrants at this time and there’s a possibility more will follow after the review of additional video,’ police said.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-boy has been dubbed ‘Black Aquaman’ after he was filmed swimming across the Montgomery river to help the black security guard after he started being hit by the white group of boaters.

Aaren, who chose to be identified only by his first name, issued a statement on Monday saying he did ‘what he was taught to do’ during the brawl on the Montgomery riverfront on Saturday night.

His publicist Makina Lashea called Aaren a ‘cherished young hero’ and called his actions a ‘remarkable act of bravery and compassion.’ 

The statement read: ‘In the face of adversity, Aaren selflessly came to the rescue of a fellow colleague, showcasing courage beyond his years. We are immensely proud of his actions and the values he exemplifies, standing as an inspiration to us all.

‘We, the publicist team, his parents, along with his extended family want to extend our sincerest gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support during this time.

‘Your messages and gestures of appreciation have not gone unnoticed, and they have left a lasting impact on Aaren and his family.’

Aaron’s spokesman then asked the public for privacy for ‘Aaren to process and reflect on the whirlwind of emotions he’s experiencing. 

‘We assure you that he will continue being a force for good in the world.’

Meanwhile, one of the men involved in the brawl has been identified by the public and local media as Chase Shipman, owner of the Vasser’s Mini Mart in Selma.

Shipman received backlash after posting video of the brawl online, claiming he tried getting away from it, as reported by the Selma Times-Journal.

He wrote: ‘I am sure most of you have seen the news about the riverboat incident. Yes, I was there but I was the first to try to get away.

‘You can see in the video I attached, and I do not condone what happened. I tried to stop it and realized that I could not, so I tried to get away. There is a video of me being the first to run away because what was happening was wrong and I did not want to be a part of it. 

‘I realize I have a business to run and represent and no charges were filed against me because I was not involved.’

But commenters said the footage showed Shipman was more involved than he was admitting to, and have started flooding his business page with bad reviews.

DailyMail.com made several attempts to contact Vasser’s Mini Mart but the phone appears to have been disconnected.

Video of the brawl shared on social media shows horrifying scenes of violence spill over, with sides seemingly divided over racial lines – although it is not yet clear whether the melee was racially aggravated. 

Men are seen gouging eyes and hurling punches to each others’ heads, while one woman lies stricken on the floor as a man smashes a chair across her head in a vicious assault. 

Montgomery police said they responded to reports of a disturbance at the riverfront at around 7pm Saturday.

The mayor’s office told DailyMail.com on Monday: ‘The Montgomery Police Department acted swiftly to detain several reckless individuals for attacking a man who was doing his job. Warrants are being signed and justice will be served.

‘This was an unfortunate incident which never should have occurred. As our police department investigates these intolerable actions, we should not become desensitized to violence of any kind in our community. Those who choose violent actions will be held accountable by our criminal justice system.’

The worker had been onboard the Harriot II Riverboat in Montgomery, Alabama, when he decided to untie a boat blocking them from docking

In a flamboyant gesture, one man flings off his cap into a watching crowd above, seemingly in anticipation of a brawl.

Scenes quickly turn sour as the pair exchange blows before another white man in red shorts tackles the black man to the floor, before several others join the fray.

Some appear to be trying to break up the fight, while others also throw punches.

At that point, a man can be seen swimming across the river to climb onto the boardwalk.

In separate footage, a group of men are seen approaching another in a small motorboat moored to the pontoon.

Another fight soon breaks out and at one point, a woman is thrown into the water with her assailant egged on by those filming the fight.

Another video shows the brawl spreading to the center of the boardwalk, outside a larger boat called Harriott II.

Photos shared on social media appear to show a group of white men sitting on the boardwalk in handcuffs, with others being led away from the scene by officers.

The altercation is under investigation by local police as they come through multiple videos provided by the public, as well as the City of Montgomery’s video surveillance.
