Shannon Sharpe has teased fans over his impending move to ESPN’s ‘First Take’ by posting a mock-up of himself performing a slam dunk alongside Stephen A. Smith in ESPN basketball uniform.
‘GET YOUR POPCORN READY,’ wrote the Denver Broncos legend who is set to join Smith of ‘First Take’Â twice weekly during football season.
Following Sharpe’s split from Skip Bayless on FS1’s ‘Undisputed,’ Smith confirmed he wanted Sharpe on ‘First Take’ and reports this week claimed the move could be announced as soon as today.
Smith is Bayless’ former debate partner and he wrote on social media: ‘The man @Shannon Sharpe can pull up with a bottle of Hennessy for all I care. I want him on First Take.’
The iconic broadcaster already works with other ex-athletes and personalities , including former NBA sharpshooter JJ Redick and ex-WFAN host Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo.
Now, according to the New York Post, Sharpe is set to join the cast twice a week during the NFL season, which begins next month.
Meanwhile, Bayless has announced that Sherman, Michael Irvin and Keyshawn Johnson will be joining him on ‘Undisputed’ following Sharpe’s departure.Â
Alongside his move to ESPN, Sharpe and Colin Cowherd confirmed that the NFL Hall of Famer would be bringing his ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast to The Volume, a sports podcasting company owned by Cowherd.
The podcast was previously hosted on Fox Sports before Sharpe left the network in June.  Â
‘I’ve decided to bring ‘Club Shay Shay’ over and partner with you. When we first started, you said: “Hey, give me an opportunity. Hear what everybody else has to say.” I listened to everybody but I felt The Volume was the best place for me.’
