- It can be seen turning right across his path forcing him to immediately break
- He then slams the back doors of the truck after it begins reversing into himÂ
This is the moment that Jeremy Vine banged on the door of a van after he claimed it took an illegal right turn on a busy London street.
The broadcaster, who is also an avid cyclist, posted footage of the incident from this morning to X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption: ‘This morning. About an hour ago. Illegal right turn, then watch. Unbelievable.’
The video showed Vine cycling down a road before entering a junction where a white van can be seen driving towards him on the other side of the road.Â
The vehicle then turns right across the path of Vine forcing him to stop and repeatedly honk his bike horn.Â
He then gets behind the van, which begins reversing into him and Vine then uses both hands to slam the back of the truck to make it stop.Â

The incident sparked a debate in the comments with some people expresssing their horror over the actions of the van driver while others criticised those of Vine himself. Â
One Twitter user said ‘this is really bad’, while another added ‘Glad you’re ok’.Â
Another person said: ‘Scary as hell. Glad you’re okay. Can’t believe the van took an illegal turn and then tried to correct it by reversing the wrong way! Points are not enough, immediate license revoke.’Â
Another user, who seemed to usually disgree with Jeremy, admitted that an driver was in the wrong.Â
He said: ‘This must be the only video I’ve ever seen you post where the driver is truly terrible and you’re not forcing yourself into avoidable situations for internet points or the cyclist vs motorist culture war.Â
‘Congrats on finally getting an authentic clip. Momentous day.’
However others were less sympathetic and claimed that Vine had cycled through a red light before enetering the junction.Â
One person said: ‘You went through a red light’, to which Vine replied: ‘It’s green Monica. Don’t drive. Please.’Â
Another added: ‘Why would you stop right behind him knowing he would have to reverse to back out you could have avoided that.’Â
One user claimed that Vine had been ‘riding without brakes, or did you deliberately not use them?’Â
Another person who sympathised with the van driver said: ‘So the guy makes a mistake, tries to rectify it but rather than help, the cyclist chooses to stay behind the van hammering on the door. Ambulance chasers.’

Vine (pictured) regularly posts clips on social media of him blasting drivers for carrying out what he says are dangerous manoeuvres in the capital
Vine regularly posts clips on social media taken from his helmet mounted video camera of him blasting drivers for carrying out what he says are dangerous manoeuvres in the capital.
Earlier this month he had a near-miss with a HGV driver who cut across a cycle lane in central London without indicating.
In the clip Vine can be seen approaching the junction in the cycle lane, which is clear.Â
Instead of waiting for Vine to pass, the HGV driver turns left at the junction without indicating – cutting across the cycle lane as Vine approaches.
Other recent films have also seen van drivers tell the Radio 2 call-in presenter to ‘f*** off’ after he challenged them on their driving and a London bus driver brand him a ‘terrible person’.
He has also sparred with an Amazon driver who called him a ‘p****’ and a 4×4 driver he caught scoffing a bag of chips and using her phone while at the wheel.
Some of Vine’s 789,300 followers debated the manoeuvre after he posted the clip – with users split on whether the taxi driver had been unsafe.
