The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced on Tuesday that the Saudi Football Association is the only body that has submitted a bid to host the 2034 World Cup by the specified deadline.
FIFA had invited countries in Asia and the Oceania region to submit their bids to host this tournament by October 31.
Saudi Arabia announced that it would submit an offer just minutes after FIFA’s invitation on the fourth of this month.
Australia said today that it will not apply to host the tournament, leaving Saudi Arabia the only candidate.
The FIFA statement said, “As stipulated in the bidding regulations approved by the International Federation Council, the FIFA administration will conduct comprehensive evaluations of the offers submitted to organize the 2030 and 2034 editions of the World Cup and will confirm the selection of the organizing countries by the FIFA conference scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024.”
