Erdogan pointed out – in a speech he delivered during the 16th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent – that 73% of those who were martyred in Gaza as a result of the brutal Israeli war were children.
He said that the Israeli government, which received full support from the West, continues to bomb schools, mosques, churches, hospitals and universities in Gaza, violating all human values.
The Turkish President indicated that his country sent more than 230 tons of humanitarian aid on board 10 planes to Al-Arish Airport in preparation for its delivery to Gaza in cooperation with the Egyptians. He also indicated that preparations in Türkiye are continuing to send two humanitarian aid ships to occupied Palestine.
He criticized the silence of Western countries regarding what is happening in Gaza, and said that those countries “that constantly talk about human rights, freedoms and democracy, are watching the Israeli massacres from afar.”
He pointed out that Western countries and organizations are so helpless that they cannot even call for a ceasefire, let alone criticize child killers.
Erdogan asked, “As Muslims and members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, when will we raise our voice if we do not raise it now?” He added, “We are facing a fascism that sees the killing of children as legitimate and justified.”
He believed that the developments in the war prove the need for Muslims to strengthen their unity.
The Turkish President said that his country is continuing its diplomatic efforts to ensure a ceasefire in Gaza and prevent the spread of the conflict.
He revealed an upcoming international conference that will take place in Istanbul on November 15, on what is happening in the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories, under the auspices of his wife Amina, and with the participation of the wives of the heads of some states and governments.
