The South African team, Sun Downs, was crowned champion of the first edition of the African Football League, after defeating Wydad Casablanca of Morocco 2-0, today, Sunday, in the second leg of the continental championship final.
The first leg ended with Wydad winning 2-1 in Casablanca, and Sun Downs succeeded in winning 3-2 on aggregate.
Sun Downs took the lead through Peter Shalulile in the third minute of stoppage time in the first half, before his teammate Aubrey Modiba added the second goal in the 53rd minute.

Sun Downs took revenge on Wydad, which caused it to be eliminated from the semi-finals of the African Champions League last season.

Sun Downs added a new African title to its coffers, after previously winning the African Champions League title in 2016 and the African Super Cup in 2017, while Wydad lost its second African final this year, after losing in the African Champions League final to Al-Ahly of Egypt last June.
