The Israeli occupation army said that the ship seized by the Houthis in the Red Sea had left Turkey on its way to India, and added that it was not Israeli.
According to the interactive map presented by Al Jazeera, the detained ship left Turkey, crossed the Suez Canal, and then the Red Sea before the Houthis took control of it in the middle of the Red Sea.
A leader in the Ansar Allah Houthi group confirmed – to Al Jazeera – that forces from the group took an Israeli ship to the shores of Yemen, and stressed that this step comes as “support for our oppressed people in Gaza.”
The military spokesman for the Houthis, Yahya Saree, said – in a statement on Sunday – that the group will begin targeting a number of ships “related to Israel.”
He added, “The types of ships targeted are those carrying the flag of the Zionist entity, ships operated by Israeli companies, in addition to ships owned by Israeli companies.”
