Spanish club Barcelona president Joan Laporta attacked the refereeing, accusing him of unfairly treating his team, pointing out that the referees showed courtesy to their traditional rival, Real Madrid, after denying the Catalan club a penalty kick against Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish League.
Barcelona stumbled away from home – last Saturday – in the 14th round of the Spanish Football League, with a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano.
The match witnessed Barcelona players demanding a penalty kick due to a challenge on Rafinha, but the referee decided not to award it.

“Throughout this week, we only talked about foolishness when we had to talk about the Rayo team and about the penalty kick for Rafinha or the person who also did that to Lewandowski,” Laporta said.
He added, “If this happened with Real Madrid, I’m sure there would be talk all week.”
He concluded, “It is not about playing the role of the victim. Rather, it is a reality. In order to win, we must be much better than our competitors, and they make things difficult for us. Now we have achieved victory over Porto, and we have iron morale to overcome Atletico and Girona.”

Laporta expressed – in statements to the Spanish newspaper “Marca” – his happiness with Barcelona’s qualification to the round of 16 in the Champions League after the 2-1 victory over Porto yesterday, Tuesday, despite the problems the club is going through, and he said: “We live in constant suffering, but it is enjoyable suffering. “I’m happy for Xavi, he deserves (to qualify), because he overcame very difficult situations, especially due to players’ injuries.”
Laporta pointed out that although Xavi’s future has been the topic of conversation during the recent period, he believes that the media should have focused on “Barcelona’s unfair arbitration decisions.”
This is not the first time that Laporta has spoken about treating Real Madrid better than Barcelona, as he said several months ago about the referees’ preference for Real Madrid.
