He informed the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Russian President Vladimir Putinhis dissatisfaction with “Russian anti-Israel positions” at the United Nations.
An Israeli statement stated that Netanyahu spoke by phone with Putin – today, Sunday – and expressed his dissatisfaction with the “anti-Israel positions” taken by Moscow envoys to the United Nations, in reference to Russia’s support for a draft UN Security Council resolution regarding a truce in Gaza strip a decision that the United States vetoed (Veto) against him the day before yesterday, Friday.
The Israeli statement stated that, in his conversation with Putin, Netanyahu expressed his “strong rejection” of Russia’s dangerous cooperation with Iran.
On the Russian side, a Kremlin statement said today that Putin discussed with Netanyahu “the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and affirmed his principled position of not accepting and condemning terrorism in all its forms.” He added, “The importance of ensuring that combating terrorist threats does not lead to serious consequences for the civilian population was noted.”
According to the Kremlin statement, “mutual interest was expressed in continuing interaction on the issues of the evacuation of Russian citizens and their family members, as well as the release of Israelis detained in Gaza. It was agreed to continue contacts.”
