Palestinians live in Gaza strip Their daily lives were filled with the sounds of continuous Israeli bombing, and the scenes of blood and destruction that affected everything. Al Jazeera English channel showed a video entitled “A Day in Gaza, produced by the people of Gaza,” showing part of the diaries of some Gazans.
In November 2023, the channel asked 10 Gazans to film moments from the reality of their daily lives, and they conveyed them in all their details: the continuous Israeli bombing and the killing, fear, and massive destruction it caused, the shortage or even scarcity of food, water, and electricity, and the evacuation journey and the search for places to sleep.
A young man talked about his daily life without electricity or water in Gaza, but – as he said – he uses a soft light from a solar charger line.
Another young man said that drinking a cup of tea early in the morning is more difficult than you think.
While the camera captured queues of people at the bakeries in order to obtain the available bread, one of the children was getting ready to go, saying, “I am going to buy a bike for my mother…but this bike is out of order. I wish I could buy a new bike.”
As for one of the girls, she said with a smile that she walked for about half an hour, but she only found nuts. “I was hoping to find biscuits or something else.”
Another appeared holding the phone in her hand and filming, saying, “We came looking for fruit…the only fruit we have is green apples.”
Bombing and destroyed homes
From the diaries of the people of Gaza, they hear the sounds of planes and Israeli bombing at all times. This is a reality that was reported by a young man who was running, repeating, “I want to give water to my grandmother.”
While a woman embraced her little girl and calmed her down, saying, “It’s over, it’s over, my love.. Oh Lord.. Oh Lord.”
One of the children came with “very bad news,” saying, “Our school was bombed. God willing, it will come out as a lie. By God, if it is bombed, I will scream.”
Amidst the houses destroyed by the Israeli bombing, a girl was pointing, “This is one house and this is another house… and the neighborhood is completely destroyed.” She said that all the residents are trying to help pull people out from under the rubble, because there are no ambulances.
Despite their difficult daily life, a little girl tries to play the violin loudly in order to mask the sound of the bombs – as she says – which makes her brother and sister feel comfortable, and a woman was stroking her daughter’s forehead and saying, “This is my little girl, she is sleeping now… Finally, she felt that she was safe despite all the bombing and sounds.” high around us.
This woman adds, “We still sleep next to each other because we still have this constant feeling: If our house is bombed, we want to die together.”
And every day of the Israeli war against them, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip lose their loved ones and children, and some of them scream out loud from oppression, “God is against every oppressor and slanderer… These are civilians who do not fire rockets.”
Evacuation and the search for safe places to sleep at night is part of the daily lives of Gazans. A 19-year-old girl recounts the moment they were evacuated to a school, describing it as the most frightening moment, while another young man smiles because he found a place with his friend Dahman.
On the other hand, children and even adults feel afraid and terrified by the sounds of the continuous bombing, and in light of their fears they repeat the Shahada: “I bear witness that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.”
It is noteworthy that the number of Palestinian martyrs since last October has exceeded the number of martyrs The Nakba 1948.
