Israel appears to be on the verge of a new truce agreement with Islamic resistance movement (Hamas), in view of the great pressure on which the war government is exposed as a result of its failure to achieve its goals and the continuous increase in the losses of its forces, despite its continued escalation of bombing of civilians in Gaza stripsay experts and analysts.
Israel has increased the pace of its attacks on civilians in Gaza over the past few days, but military expert Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi says that any negotiation process is often preceded by a wave of military escalation. To put the other party under pressure during negotiations and reduce the ceiling of its demands.
During his participation in the program “Gaza… What Next?”, Al-Duwairi said that Israel has tried during the past three days to create a new reality in Gaza, including a safe zone along the eastern front of the Strip.
The occupation forces are also trying to separate the Jabalia camp from Beit Lahia and are working to penetrate the area between the Al-Tuffah and Al-Shuja’iya neighborhoods to send a message that they have cards of strength and can do more than they did in order to force the resistance to make concessions, according to Al-Duwairi, who believes that all of this may be a prelude to a ceasefire. .
Growing internal division
Far from twisting the arm of the resistance, Muhannad Mustafa, an expert on Israeli affairs, says that Israel is suffering from a deep internal division over the feasibility of the war and the possibility of achieving its goals, stressing that “this sharp division did not exist when the battles began.”
While a non-right-wing segment within Israel is trying to think again about this war and the way it is managed, another segment is demanding the continuation of operations, a contradiction that “reflects chaos, restlessness, lack of clarity of vision, and declining confidence in the current government’s ability to achieve its goals,” says Mustafa.
Mustafa believes that the lack of clarity of the government’s true position on the issue of prisoner recovery, and the accusation of lying by some, “means that Israeli society is on the verge of further division.”
On the other hand, the resistance seems ready for all future scenarios, says political analyst Hossam Shaker, who pointed out that matters “have reached a stage of testing the extent of the occupation government’s prudence and its dealings with the major changes that are occurring.”
Shaker pointed out that Israel’s Western allies feel that the mission will not be accomplished soon and that things “may go awry on the northern border of occupied Palestine (Lebanon), in addition to the escalation taking place in the Red Sea.”
However, Shaker says, Israel continues the brutal escalation in order to “negotiate with fire,” while the resistance shows very painful responses to the occupation and its declared goals, and reinforces the hypothesis that Israel “may sink in the sands of Gaza.”
Painful losses
Abu Ubaida, the spokesman, announced Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades The military wing of the Hamas movement reported the complete or partial destruction of 41 Israeli vehicles during the past three days, in addition to killing 25 soldiers and wounding dozens of others.
In light of these heavy losses, Israel continues the military escalation because some members of the war government are defending their interests and therefore they want more bombing, destruction and starvation of the Strip regardless of the issue of the prisoners, according to Mustafa.
However, this behavior based on the political interests of some increases the unprecedented state of internal division. Because it contradicts the goal of returning prisoners, which prompts some to demand a new truce or a complete ceasefire.
The same opinion was shared by Shaker, who said that the occupation government, which continues to leap forward, “will reach the moment of truth, because the indicators of field failure and field screaming are escalating, and at a certain moment people will face the facts.”
Despite all these facts, Al-Duwairi believes that the potential truce may be far away because the United States is still convinced of Israel’s ability to eradicate Hamas.
