Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf said that his country opposes normalization with Israel, because it delays the solution of the Palestinian issue, and stressed the refusal of the Palestinian Authority to enter Gaza on an Israeli tank.
Attaf’s statement came in an interview with colleague Khadija Bin Qana on the “Those Concerned” podcast on the “Atheer” platform of the Al Jazeera Media Network.
Attaf said that we must be frank with each other, and in our dealings with the Palestinian issue, there is no single Arab side on the Palestinian issue, and the Arab side and the Arabic word are fragmented, and this translates into weakness in the field.
He added that the world has not spoken about a political solution to the Palestinian issue for more than 25 years, and the last person to take a political initiative was US President Bill Clinton.
Ataf said that when we look at the ugliness of the conditions that the people in Gaza are going through, one of the reasons for it is the lack of punishment, the absence of accountability, and the absence of accountability, as if the Israeli occupation lives in a universe other than the one in which ordinary people live.
He said that in a meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh, he told him, “We would never accept the Palestinian Authority entering Gaza on an Israeli tank.”
Attaf said that he was assigned to call Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita to offer his condolences on behalf of Algeria and offer aid after the earthquake in Morocco, and he said that his call was not answered. He added that he read this as a lack of political good faith on the part of the Moroccan authorities.
