The Al Jazeera Ambassadors Initiative, affiliated with the Al Jazeera Media Institute, organized 108 courses and workshops during the year 2023 in 20 Arab and non-Arab countries.
Raghda Jamal, who is responsible for the initiative, reviewed the significant figures this year, saying that the number of participants in these workshops and courses reached 2,460 male and female trainees, an increase of 74% over last year, and that the number of new titles expanded to reach 50 various training titles, the most recent of which were the Journalism Course in Laws and the Journalism Investigations Course in Wartime, screenwriting course, investigative journalism course, story writing for young people, video making for social media platforms and mobile photography.
Regarding the details of the courses provided, the initiative provided 73 in-person and remote training courses and 35 training workshops for young people, according to Raghda, which increased by 38% compared to last year.
The geographic area covered by the initiative has expanded to include the continents of Asia, Africa, and Europe, including Switzerland, Bosnia, Turkey, Libya, Tunisia, Morocco, Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Malaysia, Lebanon, Palestine, Oman, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Jordan, and Azerbaijan. , Nepal, and the State of Qatar, according to Raghda.
It is noteworthy that university students, young media professionals, journalism enthusiasts, union workers, and employees of independent media institutions are the largest segment to benefit from this initiative.
The vision of the Al Jazeera Ambassadors Initiative is to convey the message and values of the Al Jazeera Media Network, and to transfer the experiences and skills of its employees through free training courses to empower media talents inside and outside the Arab world.
The initiative is based on the principle of volunteerism, whereby an elite group of Al Jazeera Media Network journalists contribute to training in order to disseminate their expertise in the journalism profession and build a pioneering generation of professional media professionals.
