Barcelona have signed Spain international Dani Olmo from German side RB Leipzig for a reported fee of €60m, the Catalan club announced on Friday.
The club, which finished second last season, said in a statement: “The player signed a six-season contract that will expire on June 30, 2030, with a release clause of €500 million.”
Olmo (26 years old) topped the scorers list in the 2024 European Cup, sharing it with 5 other players, after scoring 3 goals that helped the “La Roja” team win a record fourth title.
Olmo played for Barcelona at youth level, before moving to Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in 2014.
In 2020, the attacking midfielder, who can play on the left wing, joined the two-time German Cup winners, Leipzig.

Olmo posted on his X account: “Young club, young player, we grew up together, we won our first titles together and made history together. Thank you Leipzig, you will always be in my heart.”
Olmo's signing is Barcelona's first under new coach Hansi Flick, who was appointed in May after a disappointing season under predecessor Xavi Hernandez.
Barcelona start the new season as an underdog, especially with Real Madrid winning the domestic league and Champions League titles before signing French star Kylian Mbappe.
The team will start its journey in the Spanish League against Valencia on August 17.
