Occupied Jerusalem The readings of political analysts from the Palestinians of 1948 and researchers in Israeli affairs agreed that the military operation launched by the Israeli army on the cities and camps in the north of West Bank Occupied is consistent with the war on Gaza StripIt comes in the context of the war of extermination aimed at eliminating the Palestinian population presence in historical Palestine.
Analysts estimated that this military operation, which may extend to all areas of the West Bank, and is considered the largest since Operation Defensive Shield in 2002, is consistent with the policies of the far-right government headed by… Benjamin Netanyahuwhich waved as the battle began.Al-Aqsa FloodOn October 7, 2023, to displace the Palestinians, on the pretext that they pose an existential threat to the continuation of the Zionist project.
The readings agreed that the Israeli military operation is another aspect of the “decisive” plan that aims to consolidate the settlement project, impose facts on the ground that prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state, and create an environment that repels Palestinians to force them to migrate, in addition to continuing to annex the West Bank and the Jordan Valley to Israeli sovereignty.
Decision plan
Political analyst and writer Taha Ighbaria believes that the military operation in the northern West Bank is part of the far-right government’s plan to resolve the conflict with the Palestinians, through gradual annexation pushed by the “Zionism “Religious” headed by the Minister of Finance Bezalel SmotrichTo impose Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank.
Ighbariya explained to Al Jazeera Net that the large-scale military operation in the northern West Bank is an integral part of the Netanyahu government’s policies towards the Palestinian cause, and is added to the war of genocide in the Gaza Strip, which falls within the context of the comprehensive plan to consolidate the settlement project in all of historical Palestine, through the gradual evacuation and displacement of Palestinians.
He pointed out that the policies of the right-wing government in the West Bank are a continuation of the approach of the previous government headed by Naftali Bennett, which launched Operation Breaking the Waves. However, the current military operation led by Netanyahu’s government takes on more extreme dimensions, as it bets on expanding the settlement project and achieving political gains among Israeli society.
In response to the question: Why does Israel consider it necessary to treat the West Bank as a second Gaza? The political analyst answered by saying that “the Israeli establishment fears that armed resistance will spread to all areas of the West Bank, and therefore seeks to preempt matters with a military operation in the cities and camps in the northern West Bank, which are treated as a miniature model of Gaza.”
He pointed out that Israel – which fears the outbreak of an armed uprising in light of the support fronts for the Gaza Strip that are burning in the region – sees the West Bank as an imminent danger and the front that may be the broadest, and may lead to the ignition of a comprehensive uprising in all the occupied Palestinian territories.
The political analyst said that Israel sees the West Bank as the most dangerous front, as it is geographically linked to the Israeli depth, as igniting the West Bank with a comprehensive armed uprising would deepen the strategic dilemma that Israel is suffering from, with everything related to the conflict with the Palestinians.
vengeful thinking
The same approach was adopted by the head of the National Assembly Party, Sami Abu Shehadeh, who stressed that this military operation comes in the context of a comprehensive war that Israel seeks in the region to target the Palestinian presence, through the continuation of the war of extermination and massacres in Gaza, the dangerous escalation in the cities and camps of the West Bank, and tightening the noose and pursuing the political activity ofPalestinians of 48.
Abu Shahada, a professor of political science and Middle Eastern history, explained – in a statement received by Al Jazeera Net – that what drives the Israeli establishment is the vengeful and hostile ideology towards everything Arab and Palestinian, as the Israeli leadership enjoys broad support in Israeli society for continuing the war on Gaza, and even expanding it to Lebanon and the West Bank and targeting Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa.
Abu Shahada stressed that Israeli policies confirm the rejection and intransigence of reaching any political solution to end the war, and that Israel seeks to continue it on a broader scale, saying that “the invasion of the West Bank reveals the hysteria that leads Israel and the insistence on striking the will of the Palestinian people, and the threat of some Israeli leaders to displace the Palestinians, i.e. implementing the decisive plan that Smotrich has been threatening since 2017.”
Alternative Homeland
For his part, Amir Makhoul, a researcher at the Center for Arab Policy Progress and an expert on Israeli affairs, believes that the military operation in the northern West Bank comes in the context of the war on Gaza, and within the context of a broader plan to eliminate the Palestinian population in all of historical Palestine.
In response to a question about the imminent danger that the Israeli military and security leadership sees in the Palestinian resistance in the cities and camps in the northern West Bank, Makhoul explained to Al Jazeera Net that “the Israeli establishment’s insistence on exaggerating the security danger and the penetration of Iranian influence to support the resistance factions in the West Bank comes to justify the aggression against the Palestinian people.”
He pointed out that the military operation falls within the plans of the far-right government to liquidate the Palestinian cause, and to begin the practical implementation of the “decisive” plan aimed at strengthening and consecrating the settlement project and displacing the Palestinians, which is the plan that practically paves the way for what is called the “alternative homeland” in Jordan.
The researcher in Israeli affairs stressed that the Israeli military operation – which may extend to all areas of the West Bank – is considered part of the war of genocide against the Palestinian people, and its initial chapters are taking place in the Gaza Strip. It aims to disperse the Palestinian people, separate Gaza from the West Bank, and undermine the Palestinian Authority and any structural components that would lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Makhoul warned of the repercussions of the military operation in the cities and camps in the northern West Bank, noting that it comes in the context of a comprehensive aggression against the Palestinian people, very similar to the major military operation and comprehensive invasion of Jenin and its camp in 2002.
The researcher in Israeli affairs believes that the current military operation in the northern West Bank goes beyond all the declared goals under the pretext of providing security and safety for the Israelis, and is focused on the original goal of the Israeli establishment to eliminate the Palestinian presence, saying that “the next phase of aggression will affect the Palestinians of 1948.”
