The official spokesman for the joint force, Ahmed Hussein Mustafa, told Al Jazeera Net that the battle for the Bir Mezzeh and Medou areas began this morning.
He added that the joint forces were able to completely eliminate the first group of rebels, seized 35 military vehicles in good condition, and destroyed more than 20 others.
He pointed out that the forces continued to chase what he described as “the remnants of the fleeing militias,” and succeeded in reaching the second line of defense in the Sundi Valley, where they destroyed more than 20 military and armored vehicles, and seized 15 other vehicles in excellent condition.
Mustafa added that the forces then continued their pursuit until the Al-Sayyah area, located 30 kilometers north of the strategic city of Mellit, where they launched an attack on the last lines of militia defense.
The battle resulted in the destruction of more than 15 military vehicles, in addition to the seizure of 19 other vehicles, some of which were loaded with supplies and equipment.
The spokesman also stated that the joint force will publish the details of these battles in audio and video to the masses of the Sudanese people.
