Honorary President of the French Jewish Peace Federation, Richard Wagman, said that pressure on pro-Palestinian activists is increasing throughout France.
Wagman explained that activities and social movements that oppose the policies of the French government and support the Palestinians are subject to increasing harassment in the country.
He added that the pressure exerted by security forces on pro-Palestinian demonstrators increased after October 7, 2023, and that the police often resorted to violence and many pro-Palestinian activists were put on trial.
The Jewish activist warned that campaigns for social justice and peace in France have become a dangerous business, and the state no longer tolerates opposition, noting that the increasing number of trade unionists who were arrested during demonstrations in support of Palestine confirms the disturbing decline in basic freedoms.
Wagman criticized the silence of the international community regarding the Gaza issue, noting that media organizations are concealing the seriousness of the situation on the ground through biased coverage.
It is noteworthy that many politicians, activists and comedians who protested the Israeli attacks on Gaza and made a statement of support for Palestine were accused in France of spreading terrorist propaganda and were tried.
With absolute American support, Israel has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 139,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of dozens of children, in one of the worst disasters. Humanity in the world.
In disdain for the international community, Israel continues the war of genocide in Gaza, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to stop it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
