A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 70s was discovered dead at a home in Rugby.
Surendra Patel, 78, has been charged with murder following the death of the woman on October 8.
Police were called to the property at 9.39am on October 8 where they found the woman’s body. Her family are being supported by specialist officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Helen Waite from the Warwickshire Police major investigation unit said: ‘This is a tragic incident, and we have launched an investigation to establish what has happened.

‘The woman’s family has been informed and they are being supported by specially trained officers.
‘At this time, we believe the incident was contained to the property and there was no risk to the wider public.’
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: ‘We were called by the police to Aqua Place, Rugby to reports of a medical emergency.
‘Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a critical care car from The Air Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
‘Sadly, one woman was confirmed dead at a property.
‘A man was treated for serious injuries by the team of ambulance staff before being conveyed to hospital for further emergency care.’
