Video scenes circulated by local platforms and accounts in Peru, yesterday, Sunday, documented the moment a lightning bolt struck the floor of the “Coto Coto” stadium, during an amateur football match in Chilca, killing a player and injuring 5 others.
The clip showed that about 6 players fell on the field as a result of the lightning bolt, while a Peruvian account specializing in meteorology confirmed that the lightning bolt struck the field and killed a player instantly.

Local media said that defender Jose Hugo lost his life due to the lightning bolt, while goalkeeper Juan Chuca was injured and in critical condition, in addition to 4 other players lying in the hospital. Circular scenes also showed that the lightning bolt struck the players the moment they left the field immediately after the referee decided to suspend the match. The match was postponed due to weather in the 23rd minute of the match.
