A southern Washington County man recently claimed his $50,000 prize after winning with a Joker’s Wild scratch-off game, according to the Maryland Lottery.
The winner is described as a man who lives in a small town south of Hagerstown and who works in agriculture, according to an early December news release from the Lottery.
The Maryland Lottery allows winners to remain anonymous.
The man decided to treat himself to a couple scratch-off tickets during a lunch, buying two $5 Joker’s Wild scratch-off games at Battleview Market in Sharpsburg.
The county resident frequently visits the 5331 Sharpsburg Pike market, which will receive a $500 bonus for selling a top-prize winning ticket, the release states.
After striking out on the first ticket, the man found no matches between the “your numbers” section and the winning numbers on the second ticket, the release states. Then he revealed a “joker” symbol to score $50,000.
“My heart was pounding,” the man told the Lottery.
He was considering plans for his winnings.
