Washoe County School District employee Caitlin Rock was scheduled to be in court Wednesday following her arrest in June in connection with sexual assault and sexual seduction of a middle school boy.
Rock is accused of sexually seducing and sexually assaulting a boy when he was 13 and 14. She met the child in August 2022 when she worked with his family on his attendance at Billinghurst Middle School in northwest Reno, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing to view evidence was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Reno Justice Court.
Rock, 46, is no longer employed with the district. She previously worked as a district specialist overseeing students at Billinghurst and Swope middle schools.
According to divorce documents Rock’s husband filed soon after her arrest, the couple has two children who were 13 and 14 at the time of her arrest.
Rock is facing 20 felony charges of sexual seduction and assault of a child under age 14. Police were notified about the case when the boy told his mother after she tracked his phone, believing he was lying about being with friends.
The boy told police he started having sex with Rock when he was 13 and it went on for a year even after he tried to break it off, according to court documents.
Court documents say they first had sex in the parking lot of Grace Church in Reno. The relationship continued with the two meeting up in her car and at Rock’s house, according to court documents.
Court documents also include multiple text message exchanges between Rock and the boy.
In one text she wrote that she would wait for the boy’s mother to fall asleep then would pick him up.
“I want to be in your arms all night long,” Rock wrote, according to court documents.
The day before her arrest, Rock wished the boy good morning and wrote that she loves him.
He responds, “Can you please get me Burger Me?”
Rock has been in the Washoe County jail since her arrest. Her bail was set at $2 million.
The RGJ has requested comment from Rock’s public defender.
