Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has ousted his far-right protégé Owen Shroyer from the Infowars media network, with Shroyer claiming the dismissal was because Jones deemed him “too anti-Trump.”
Shroyer, the former host of The War Room, confirmed his departure on Monday, admitting he walked out mid-show last Thursday following escalating clashes with Jones. “I reached my point of no return, so I walked out of the studio,” Shroyer explained on the streaming platform Rumble. He also refuted Jones’ on-air claim that his abrupt exit was due to a “family emergency.”
According to Shroyer, he had hoped to announce his departure on his own terms to “finish positively,” but Jones showed no interest. “[Jones] told me that he didn’t need me and good luck… I was left with no choice,” Shroyer stated. “This is not how I wanted it to be.”
The host detailed long-standing professional friction, noting Jones’s frequent criticism. “Alex is not easy to work for,” Shroyer said, adding that Jones had called him “too negative” and a “pessimist.” Shroyer also described a lack of creative freedom, stating, “Imagine someone staring over your back 24/7. Every single day… it was either a guest I was told I had on at the last minute or him coming into the studio… I couldn’t do what I wanted to do.”
Shroyer, once considered a rising figure in pro-Trump media, served 60 days in jail in 2023 for his involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot. Prosecutors argued in a court filing that Shroyer “helped create January 6” by spreading election disinformation and “thinly veiled calls to violence” on Infowars.
