Timed with the start of the new NFL season and the return of the NBA in October, Roku has announced a partnership with YouTube TV to integrate the streaming service into the Roku Sports experience. This collaboration is designed to streamline how users find and watch live sports, including games available through NFL Sunday Ticket.
The integration, which began rolling out on September 5, allows YouTube TV subscribers to launch live games directly from Roku’s sports hub. Selecting a game will take users to the YouTube TV app, where they can utilize features like multiview to watch up to four events at once. YouTube TV now joins other services available through the hub, including DAZN Live Sports, Frndly TV, Spectrum TV, and Xfinity Stream.
Roku introduced its Sports experience in 2022 as a centralized hub for discovering content and live games from various subscribed streaming apps. It features branded zones for leagues such as the NFL, NBA, and MLB, and has since expanded to include over 35 free ad-supported channels for sports like golf, hockey, and tennis.
“Partnering with YouTube TV is a major step in delivering a comprehensive fan-centered experience that simplifies sports discovery and puts live action front and center for millions of fans,” said John Franzetta, Head of Sports at Roku Media.
According to Roku, the partnership will eventually expand beyond sports, allowing other live programming from YouTube TV to be featured in different discovery areas across the Roku platform.
