Indiana Fever players Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark were involved in an on-court exchange with a police officer during the team’s series-clinching playoff victory over the Atlanta Dream on Thursday night.
The incident occurred with just over four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, during an injury timeout for the Dream’s Odyssey Sims. As Cunningham and Clark walked toward center court, an officer gestured for them to move back. Cunningham was seen exchanging words with the officer before she and Clark returned to the sideline.
Following the game, Cunningham acknowledged the moment on social media, sharing a photo of the encounter with the caption, “THIS IS SOME AURA.”
Despite being sidelined for the season with injuries, both players have remained a prominent presence, frequently drawing media attention from the bench. Earlier in the series, the pair went viral for their animated protests of a missed traveling violation.
The Fever secured the win against the Dream to advance in the WNBA playoffs and will now face the Las Vegas Aces in the next round.
