Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Devontez Walker is building a reputation for unprecedented efficiency in the end zone. Through his first 11 career games, Walker has an incredible three touchdowns on just three career receptions.
The second-year receiver showcased his scoring prowess in Baltimore’s 41-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns in Week 2, catching two passes for 26 yards, both for touchdowns. He did not record a catch in the team’s season-opening loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Walker’s remarkable touchdown rate has captured attention online. The Ravens’ official X account highlighted his unique stats, posting, “3 career receptions = 3 career TDs. Devontez Walker’s stat line goes crazy.”
Selected by the Ravens in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Walker’s first career reception came as a rookie. In a Week 15 win over the New York Jets, he caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from two-time MVP Lamar Jackson.
Teammates and fans have taken notice of his big-play ability. “He was Toe-Touch Tez last year… but now he’s Touchdown Tez,” long snapper Nick Moore commented. Quarterback Lamar Jackson praised Walker’s dedication, telling reporters, “Tez is a very hard worker. He’s been grinding, and all he needed was the opportunity. He shows up each and every time.”
Walker’s journey to the NFL included a highly publicized eligibility battle with the NCAA in 2023. After his 2020 season at North Carolina Central was canceled due to the pandemic, he played two seasons at Kent State, earning All-MAC honors in 2022. A subsequent transfer to North Carolina was initially blocked by the NCAA’s two-time transfer rule, forcing him to miss the first four games of the 2023 season before being cleared to play.
Despite the shortened season, he recorded 41 catches for 699 yards and eight touchdowns in eight games for the Tar Heels. He later solidified his draft stock with an elite NFL Combine performance, which included a 4.36-second 40-yard dash, a 40.5-inch vertical leap, and an 11-foot-2 broad jump.
