CLEVELAND, Ohio – A weather alert is in effect for this afternoon and evening due to the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms.
Two rounds of storms are possible, with the first cluster expected along the lakeshore from mid to late afternoon. A second wave is forecast to approach areas south of the Ohio Turnpike this evening.
The primary risks associated with these storms are damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding.
The severe weather threat will decrease overnight, though showers may linger. Unsettled weather is expected to continue for the remainder of the week as a moist airmass remains over the region.
A front will move into northern Ohio tomorrow, bringing additional rounds of rain and storms that are expected to significantly alleviate current drought conditions.
