Hollywood action star Jackie Chan has arrived in Almaty, Kazakhstan, sparking considerable online interest in the purpose of his visit. The actor was seen in videos and photos being greeted by representatives of the film company Salem Entertainment at the city’s international airport.
Maksat Kikimov, the former deputy mayor of Almaty and current president of the wrestling promotion Nomad Wrestling, shared a photograph with Chan. “His films not only entertained us but also inspired us to be active, to play sports, and to believe that anything is possible,” Kikimov wrote. “Thank you for an era of amazing films that continue to give strength and motivation to millions.”
Speculation has arisen that Chan is in the country to attend a football match between Kairat and Real Madrid, though there has been no official confirmation. The actor was also spotted at the Shymbulak mountain resort.
Salem Entertainment was previously in the news in April 2025, when it terminated its contract with actor Sharip Serik following a public scandal involving an assault. All scenes featuring Serik were subsequently removed from the film “Patrol: The Last Order.”
Chan is the latest in a series of international celebrities to visit Kazakhstan, following recent performances in the country by singer Jennifer Lopez and the Backstreet Boys.
