Chipotle Mexican Grill will introduce Red Chimichurri, a new limited-time sauce, to its menus across the U.S. and Canada starting Tuesday, September 30. The launch is a direct response to customer demand for more unique dips and sauces.
Prepared fresh in-restaurant daily, the new sauce is made with roasted garlic, fresh cilantro, chili peppers, and citrus juice, delivering a bright and tangy flavor. It contains no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives and is served on the side, allowing customers to add it to any entrée.
The introduction of Red Chimichurri follows the success of the company’s Adobo Ranch dressing and taps into a significant consumer trend. According to industry research, 92% of Gen Z consumers report they would visit a restaurant specifically for a signature sauce.
“Red Chimichurri unlocks an all-new flavor profile that is unlike any menu item we introduced before,” said Chris Brandt, President and Chief Brand Officer. “This is more than a new sauce – it’s a new way for our fans to get creative and build the ultimate flavor combination.”
The company specifically curated the sauce to complement its popular Carne Asada, which recently returned to the menu. Nevielle Panthaky, Chipotle’s Vice President of Culinary, also recommends pairing the Red Chimichurri with the chain’s chicken and plant-based Sofritas entrées.
To promote the launch, Chipotle Rewards members will receive an offer for a free side of Red Chimichurri with an entrée purchase on September 30. Customers must be enrolled in the rewards program by 5 p.m. PT on September 29 to be eligible for the offer.
