Google has announced a $4 billion investment in Arkansas through 2027, which includes the construction of the state’s first Google data center in West Memphis. The investment will also fund the development of cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure, alongside local programs aimed at improving energy resilience and affordability.
As part of the initiative, the company is launching a $25 million Energy Impact Fund to support energy efficiency for residents in Crittenden County and the surrounding region. In collaboration with Entergy, Google will help bring a new 600-megawatt solar project to the grid and implement programs to reduce power consumption during peak hours.
The investment also focuses on workforce development through a partnership with the Arkansas Department of Commerce. Google will provide all state residents with no-cost access to its AI courses and Career Certificates. The program will initially be rolled out to students at the University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University, with the goal of strengthening the state’s talent pipeline and positioning Arkansas to contribute to AI innovation in the U.S.
