Florida Gators rise in the latest Amway Coaches Poll
USA TODAY Sports’ Paul Myerberg breaks down the latest Amway Coaches Poll.
Mississippi State soars while Oklahoma and LSU plummets in the USA TODAY Sports NCAA Re-Rank 1-126, which now adds in teams from the Pac-12, Mountain West and MAC to bring the ranking to include almost the entire Bowl Subdivision.
The Sooners are down 15 to No. 20 after losing to No. 39 Kansas State. LSU falls 12 No. 24 after losing 44-34 to No. 14 Mississippi State, which rose 34 spots after pulling off the season-opening upset.
Elsewhere inside the Top 25, No. 4 Florida is up four and into second among SEC teams. Overall, the Gators trail No. 1 Clemson, No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Alabama. Georgia is down one to No. 5 after struggling in the first half against Arkansas.
Inserting teams from the final three conferences to rejoin the regular season temporarily turns the rankings into a mess. (Well, the messiness is hopefully only temporary.) The Pac-12, Mountain West and MAC add in 36 more teams to come close to the normal total of 130.
No. 7 Oregon comes in atop the Pac-12, though the Ducks will miss All-America left tackle Penei Sewell, who opted out of the season. Oregon is joined in the Top 25 by No. 16 Southern California and No. 25 California.

No. 19 Boise State leads the Mountain West. No. 47 Toledo tops the MAC, followed closely by No. 56 Ohio and No. 62 Buffalo.
In all, the rankings list all but four teams in the Bowl Subdivision: Connecticut, Old Dominion, Massachusetts and New Mexico State. All four programs have either opted out of the fall season or, in the case of Massachusetts, are evaluating the option of playing a drastically shortened schedule.
