The Brazilian pharmaceutical company “Uniao Quimica” announced that the production of the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine against the emerging corona virus in Brazil may start “in the coming days.”
The company said, in a statement to “TASS” agency on Thursday evening: “After the arrival of the materials from Russia yesterday, Uniao Quimica will start producing the vaccine in the coming days within the framework of agreements on technology transfer with the Russian Direct Investment Fund.”
The company stated that representatives of the company will arrive in Moscow to conduct negotiations with the Russian Fund, as of January 11, regarding the supply of “large quantities” of the vaccine to Brazil.
Uniao Quimica stated that it plans to send an “urgent request” to the Russian side “because the course of the pandemic requires everyone to move very quickly.”
On December 30, Uniao Quimica, a partner of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, applied for permission to conduct clinical trials of the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine against the Coronavirus in Brazil.
