Supporters of US President Donald Trump try to storm the Congress headquarters amid clashes with police on January 6, 2020.
On Tuesday, the American judiciary brought formal charges against the former New York police officer, Thomas Webster, of participating in the events of the congressional storming and attacking the security forces.
Webster appeared in court in White Plains Federal Court in New York State, where the prosecution showed a video clip showing the defendant assaulting a Capitol Police officer with a flagpole bearing the flag of the US Marines.
Prosecutors said they believed that Wester, a father of 3 and a former Marine and New York Police officer, was carrying a pistol while inside Congress headquarters on the day of the unrest.

The judge issued a decision to arrest Webster as long as the investigation continues without the possibility of his release on bail because he may represent a threat to society.
On Monday, the defendant turned himself in to the FBI after announcing a wanted person, and he also handed over the pistol he had to security services.
On January 6, a group of supporters of former US President Donald Trump stormed the Congress headquarters while it was holding hearings to approve the results of the presidential election, which was won by Democrat Joe Biden, in an accident that killed 5 people.
Against the background of these developments, Democrats in the House of Representatives launched a second process to impeach Trump, but it did not succeed due to the position of members of the House of Representatives.
