Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The “ENOC” Group, the Emirates National Oil Company, has published through its official account on the “Instagram” website a video clip revealing the future service station at the Expo 2020 site in Dubai.
The inauguration of the future service station, which is inspired by the historical Ghaf tree, was attended by Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Director General of the Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Deputy Chairman of the ENOC Group, and Saif Hamid Al Falasi, CEO of ENOC Group.
This is the first service station in the world to carry the Platinum rating for “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design”.
According to the Dubai Government Media Office, Saif Hamid Al Falasi, CEO of ENOC Group, said earlier: “The ‘Future Service’ station embodies ENOC’s commitment to the concept of ‘inspiration from energy’ as a model foreseeing service stations in the future.”
He added, “This station contributes to Expo 2020 Dubai’s plans to establish a distinct legacy for the emirate of Dubai and the United Arab Emirates.”
By employing smart, renewable and highly energy-efficient solutions, including photovoltaic solar panels and wind turbines that generate energy, the plant achieves savings equivalent to 48% of energy consumption, or up to 228 MW annually.
The clean energy initiatives contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 100,000 kilograms, equivalent to planting 114 trees annually.
The station’s canopy is fitted with a carbon fiber body, which is three times stronger than steel and 5 times lighter than it.
The roof of the station is designed from tetrafluoroethylene, known as “polymer,” which allows natural light to reach and provides 100% protection from UV rays.
The station contains a system that recovers gasoline vapors and converts up to 70% of the total vapors into fuel, which will lead to improvement of the surrounding environment, given the system’s ability to control the emissions of volatile organic compounds.
To enhance safety measures, the plant uses advanced fuel volume management and measurement systems, as it continuously monitors the stock and safety of tanks, monitors leakage cases around the clock, and is equipped with monitoring systems installed on the front of the turbine pump.
It is noteworthy that the list of engineering and architectural consulting companies for the “future service station” project includes the “Aedas” company that provided the design and architectural plans, “Arcades” that supervises the design and construction works, and the “Tebubian” company that provided advice related to the “leadership in designs Energy and Environment “(LEED) for the project.
