a global capital with social justice

Mexico City, December 2022. Among the challenges imposed after the Covid-19 pandemic, the conditions of trust and security stand out, essential for the return of investments and, in general, the reactivation of the economy. In this regard, not only is the progress of Mexico City in terms of infrastructure and mobility notorious, but also in the construction of a synergy between the social and productive forces within the capital; and between it and other states of the country.

As an example, in the year 2021 the capital government headed by Claudia Sheinbaum, promoted with the businessmen the Agenda for the Economic Reactivation of the City, which had among its main themes, the reduction of insecurity to provide certainty to foreign investors and start a campaign to activate tourism and the service sector.

The foregoing is added to a comprehensive sustainable infrastructure project where works such as the largest Urban Cable Car in the world (Cablebús) and the Elevated Trolleybus system, the only one of its kind globally, stand out. The result of this impulse is reflected in the success of Mexico City not only in terms of mobility, but also in terms of environmental development, as evidenced by its first place in the One Planet City Challenge (OPCC) 2021-2022. .

All this, together with its economic-productive dynamics, currently places Mexico City as one of the three best cities to live in globally, according to the InterNations Expat City Ranking 2022 list. This also allows the generation of agreements such as the most recent between CDMX, UNESCO and the AirBNB company.

The most important thing, however, is that this globalizing dynamic is undertaken from a social justice approach that seeks to protect the citizens of the capital from the risks inherent to economic globality. The city not only has free internet, but also a broad subsidy policy, while its main infrastructure works are carried out in popular areas and it invests heavily in education. In this way, based on a humanist approach, the capital of Mexico is not only projected as a focus of international interest, but also as a true center of development that seeks to turn that interest into opportunities for all Mexicans.
