A video circulating on social media, documenting the beating of Moroccan minors by the Spanish police, sparked anger among the activists.
Moroccan media sites stated that the issue is related to Moroccan illegal immigrants, who are being attacked for an unknown reason by the Spanish Guard.
Reports differed about the location of the incident, as it was said that the video was in one of the accommodation centers in the “Las Palmas” district, while others reported that it was inside a mosque in the same district.
In the meantime, Moroccan websites quoted the head of the Horizons Association for Moroccan Immigrants in the Canary Islands, Wali Honorary, as saying that the video was filmed last Saturday at a shelter for minors called Tendaya, in the Tafira Place, in the diamond area.

The governor stated that the incident was caused by the fact that minors residing in the center were not allowed to leave due to a punishment, which led them to enter into a verbal altercation with the director of the center, which prompted the latter to contact the police.
At the beginning of the video, a boy appears crying bitterly for another boy lying on the ground, in the absence of consciousness and possibly death, before the police officers enter and start beating him and another group in a brutal manner.
Social media users denounced the way the Spanish police dealt with Moroccan immigrants, calling on the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs to intervene.
In addition, Moroccan sources reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Spanish ambassador to Morocco, Ricardo Diez Hochleitner Rodriguez, and informed him through a senior official of its concern and complaints about the actions that took place in one of the detention centers for minors.
In this unofficial response, Morocco considered that special attention should be paid to minors, calling on neighboring Spain to take measures that would enable the protection of children.
