Real Madrid achieved a difficult victory over its Italian host Atlanta, with a goal, in the match that brought them together on Wednesday in the first leg of the 16th round of the UEFA Champions League.
Real Madrid owes the victory to French star Ferland Mendy, who scored the only goal of the match with a shot from outside the penalty area 4 minutes before the end of normal time.
Atlanta played most of the game’s minutes with ten men, after its Swiss player, Remo Frioller, was sent off in the 17th minute of the match.
With this victory away from home, the royal team is close to qualifying for the next round, awaiting the return match scheduled for the “Alfredo Di Stefano” stadium in the capital, Madrid, on the 16th of next March.
