Government sources reported that a European Union mission is on its way to the interim Yemeni capital, Aden, to meet with the internationally recognized Yemeni government, which has taken Aden as a temporary headquarters.

This follows the announcement of the new US President, Joe Biden, that the United States will stop its support for the Saudi-led Arab coalition operations in Yemen, but he pledged to continue helping the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to defend its lands.
Biden also announced the appointment of Lenderking, an American envoy to Yemen, stressing the need to end the war there.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has led the Arab coalition, which has been waging intense military operations in Yemen, in support of the internationally recognized Yemeni government loyal to President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi, which is fighting the Houthi forces controlling the capital, Sanaa.
The conflict in Yemen has claimed thousands of lives, triggered a large-scale Yemeni famine and a humanitarian crisis that is among the worst in the world.
