Abdul Latif Al-Khal, head of the National Strategic Group to address “Covid-19” in Qatar and head of the Infectious Diseases Department at Hamad Medical Corporation, spoke about the possibility of imposing additional restrictions to limit the spread of the virus.
Al-Khal said that if the number of Coronavirus cases and hospitalizations continues to increase in the coming days, then this requires additional restrictions to limit the spread of the virus.
In response to a question about the possibility of imposing new restrictions if the number of infections continues to rise, he added, “This is very likely.”
He pointed out that the neighboring countries, the countries of the region and the world re-impose restrictions or apply the ban in order to limit the spread of the epidemic, especially in fear of the new strain that began to spread.
He continued: “There are many measures that are supposed to be applied, but unfortunately there is no commitment from people, and if people had applied them, we would not have entered or there were signs of entry into a second wave of the epidemic.”
With regard to these restrictions, he explained that strict measures will be applied, such as closing some activities, which is possible, and these procedures have proven successful in the past, and that these measures, if applied, will be applied within limited weeks, and then the need to continue or lift them will be reviewed.
