Business Insider has released a 3-minute animation clip showing the Earth’s timeline in a timeline spanning the United States.
And the journey begins in Los Angeles, when the Earth was first formed 4.54 billion years ago, without going a long distance in the land journey through time and space before the appearance of the moon, after a space object strikes the planet.

About halfway across the summit of Arizona, the world’s largest rocks formed 3.95 billion years ago, and then a few miles down the road – 3.8 billion years ago – the first evidence of life appears, in the form of identical particles.
But it wasn’t until Kansas, 2.7 billion years ago, when the oxygen-producing cyanobacteria first appeared, and then 200 million years later, large amounts of oxygen accumulated in the Earth’s atmosphere.
And then it wasn’t until Pennsylvania – halfway across the country – that multicellular organisms evolved, 600 million years ago.
And a lot happens in Pennsylvania, as the plants that colonize the land and evolve amphibians. And by the time the dinosaurs are extinct, we are already in New York state.
