The Algerian newspaper “An-Nahar” reported that an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 degrees on the Richter scale struck southeast El Ammaria in the Medea province, south of Algiers.
The newspaper said that the tremor was recorded at 1936 hours, Algerian time.
According to the Center for Research in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics, the quake center was located 4 km southeast of Al Amariyah in the state of Medea.
The authorities did not announce any injuries or material losses.
In the recent period, Algeria witnessed a return to seismic activity, after aftershocks were recorded that struck the eastern, western and northern provinces of the country, whose strength ranged between 3 and 4 degrees on the Richter scale.
