Volcano eruption in Iceland

Iceland’s Met Office said a volcano in the southwestern Reykjanes peninsula erupted on Friday, following thousands of small earthquakes in the area in recent weeks.
The office said in a tweet that “a volcanic eruption began in Fajradalsviyal,” referring to a mountain located about 30 kilometers southwest of the capital.
He added that air traffic to and from Keflavik International Airport had ceased, while a helicopter with a scientific crew had been dispatched to assess the extent of the volcano’s eruption.
Pictures posted on local media websites show the night sky glowing from the lava.
