A California woman found a 4.38-carat rough yellow diamond, the largest ever found in a park this year, within just an hour of searching, according to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”.

Noreen Redberg of California revealed the rough diamonds during a trip to visit Hot Springs National Park, and said in an interview: “I first saw the park on a TV show several years ago, when I realized we weren’t very far away, I knew we had to come to it.”

She began searching for the diamond, as others had found it there previously, and after only 40 minutes, the woman spotted a clean, shiny rock and gave it to her husband, who took her to a nearby mineral exploration center for identification.
According to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, the diamond weighs 4.38 carats, which is the largest that was found in the park in 2021 and the second largest yellow diamond found recently, after a gem weighing 4.49 carats found by another visitor last October.

The price of a yellow diamond varies, depending on whether it is “luxury light yellow” or more expensive “fancy vivid”, which is rarer and shinier than most diamonds..
The lady’s colored diamonds likely fall into the luxurious light category, which costs around $3,500 per carat for light yellow.
