Abbie Chatfield says Dipper’s bikini remarks on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! are ‘part of rape culture’
Last week, Abbie Chatfield called out Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! after he made repeated comments about her skimpy bikini.
In a dramatic scene, a fed-up Abbie confronted the retired AFL star after he remarked: ‘You’re not going out like that?’
Speaking on her podcast It’s A Lot, the 25-year-old former Bachelor contestant addressed the ‘joke’, stating that the behaviour is part of a larger issue and ‘rape culture’.

‘I know he didn’t mean anything by it and that’s actually the whole issue,’ she began.
‘The whole issue is that it’s so ingrained into our society and the psyche of men, particularly an older man, that it’s okay to say these things.
‘He thinks it’s a joke, but for me it’s a part of rape culture and for women it’s part of rape culture and it’s part of the sexualisation that we’ve endured since you were a kid.’

Following Dipper’s remarks, fans were divided, with some congratulating Abbie, while others suggested there was a generational gap between them.
However, the former Bachelor star didn’t agree, asking her followers: ‘Do we say if you’re 50-plus you’re allowed to say these things and we can just say it’s a generation gap?
‘Where do we give them the pass to just say these things, because there has to be a limit right?’

‘I shouldn’t have said what I said in camp. I am glad we had the chance to discuss it. It was a learning moment and I am glad we could ‘TWERK it all out in the end.”
