During his interview with Al-Youm Al-Sabea newspaper, Abdel Nasser said that the late artist Umm Kulthum was close to his mother, saying, “We used to call her Tant Soma.” He was starting his day.
He emphasized that “the hadiths of his father’s persecution of the artist Mohamed Fawzi Khazablat from the Brotherhood and the Royal Covenant Group and the nationalization of the artist’s company because they met the conditions and Umm Kulthum was his partner and the state nominated him to compose the Algerian national anthem.”
He continued: “Gamal Abdel Nasser supported Muhammad Fawzi during his illness and ordered his treatment abroad at the expense of the state.”
